well i asked how i'm supposed to determine my motherboard manufacturer in
that thread and was told to look at the board. all i see is a board.
there is no flashy name writen on it or any of the chips that would point
me in the direction of the manufacturer. so if you have any better tips
than that let me know.

btw: this computer is a custom built job from some dotcom company that
went bellyup and offers no further support for their products. the
company is APEXX there is a CF phone number on the sticker on the back of
the PC. 266-0071 i've tried calling but all there is is a fax machine???
any help would be appreciated.

> ok, i got some edo ram off ebay. its a 256mb kit (4x64mb). but the
thing is
> my damn bios won't recognize anything beyond 64mb?
>
> any ideas why this is? how i can fix it?

Upgrade your damn bios?

You should try to keep your related messages in the same thread, for
convenience of reference. It seems Geerts asked you for some
hardware specs.
I can't find that you replied with this info. I assume you did look
these
things up before diving into eBay's dumpsters and making the
purchase?

Find out who the MB manufacturer is, and then find their website -
usually a
reliable source of firmware upgrades. There are usually massive
disclaimers
and warnings that you can hose your system with these downloads, so be
sure
to use your head about it...
